The display looks like it's highlighting things in the environment, maybe useful items or enemies.

Ah, got it.

Yep, I was wrong. For some reason I thought that pod, posted 2 pages back, looked like Discoball's head.
I'm so excited. For a game to take 5 years to create shows that it has a lot of work and time put into it, therefore, SOMA will be a scary game!

I just can't imagine how robots (or similar fantasy creatures) could be scary. The dogs in Penumbra were scary because they are real animals. The infected were scary because they are human-like. The grunts and the brutes of Amnesia are by far the most well designed and best looking monsters I ever saw in a media, but they are not scarier than the infected. I don't know why. And the glowing disco head of SOMA we saw in an old video is by far the most disappointing monster I saw from Frictional Games. It just doesn't look dangerous and believable like a real existing creature. Robots are not scary for me, because they are not living and they automatically reminds me of a game or a movie. If a creature would be half human and half robot it would be scarier, but the glowing disco effect looks more out-of-place than scary.
But lets be surprised what Frictional Games created for us!
I don't know if it has been asked here before, but I was just wondering why the research base is named PATHOS-2?
Isn't that name bit too much "in your face"? I mean who would name a base SUFFERING-2, which I guess is a pretty good equivalent of what the Greek term "πάθος" means? (or disease, scourge, something arousing feelings of pity/sorrow.) Or is it somekind of pathology research base?
i think that robots would be creepy as shit in this game because you wont be able to tell if its a robot or has a conciousness or not. could be creepy af u feel me

I think that anything can be creepy as shit if frictional games made it!
I've just checked Frictional Games's facebook. So it turns out that version beta is done, and it just so happens bugs began to appear. They've sent out 40 copies of the game for testing, and it should be done soon. Yes I know you already know, but just for those who don't check their facebook.

There was also a blog post about this:
