~44 days and I really can't wait to get my hands on SOMA. It might be bad that my expectations are so high but I have a good gut feeling for the game. FG will nail it.
Also pretty excited about the engine update and how it will affect speedrunning. All previous games have some pretty good runs to show off. So after receiving plenty of heart attacks while playing through normally it will be glitch hunting time.
i'm trying not to redo my mistake of hyping amfp too much and being disappointed, so i'm just watching all the videos and not trying to predict too much about the game. i will just let them surprise me, and i'm sure i'll enjoy it a lot more that way
Can't wait to pre-order this awesome "game". Hope it is scary enough.
How early do Steam pre-order pages usually get put up? A month in advance or so?
From tomorrow it will be exactly 6 weeks until Release on the 22 of September.
And I'm hoping that release on the 22 is 12am or early in the morning and not something else.
Not sure if SOMA will follow suit, but Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs was released at 8am GMT. I don't remember the exact day Pigs was available for pre-order, but checking my email archive I can see that I pre-ordered mine on the 16th of August and the game was released on the 10th of September, so a one-month pre-order window seems to be about right.
The pre-orders for Pigs also came with a 20% discount, again I'm not sure if SOMA will follow suit.
It will be interesting to see what kind of buzz Frictional has planned to lead in to the Launch. They obviously want to be very careful with what the release since they've taken painstaking steps to avoid spoilers, going so far as to restrict all the people who got the hands-on preview recently to avoid showing and talking too much. For instance.
How early will media outlets get their review copies? I wonder how Frictional will take into account game outlets' tendencies to be generous with their spoilers.
When will more information be revealed about Depth? So far there's really been nothing known aside from the clips. How will people be able to view it when it is released?
Like you suggest, the efforts they've put in place to avoid anymore spoliers from happening leads me to believe that the full reviews won't hit until very close to release or release itself.
I recently gorged on the previews and preview videos and whilst i've only really seen about 15 mins of footage (outside of the 10 min gameplay Frictional released) it's still spoiled a little chunk of it for me.
I've decided to lay low and wait for the release. I've waited 5 years for this, so what's six weeks more
Suuuure.
While I'm at it, I might as well fax my bank details over to that Nigerian government official, who has promised to deposit fifty grand in my bank account.......
On Twitter Frictional has stated that Pre-Orders will be coming "Soon! Very Soon!"
So yeah, since it seemed like the previous game, AMFP started theirs a month ahead, I'm guessing then SOMA will probably follow the similar timeline and pre-orders will be in the next week or two.
