Working with your Level Editor is a pain in the ass, just saying ^^

If you know better, do it.
Depends what you're calling a pain in the ass about it...

Because you're right... if you're talking about the lack of coloured spec maps, various bugs and crashes, the way normals are used in-game, importing models and animations you created yourself (Traggey or Robo could give more examples for this kind of PITA).

If you're complaining because it's hard or confusing, you obviously haven't spent a ton of time working with the Level Editor. Definitely one of the most simple configurations I've seen. Comparing it to, say, UE4 would be like comparing MSPaint to Photoshop.

Personally, I like HPL2. It's like playing with lego or knex for me

Why? Is it the interface? The way the objects are placed? Are you using Amnesia? SOMA? Penumbra? Undecided
It's actually quite easy when you're used to the functions, know the limits, and know how to do a work-around.
The controls for the camera are really confusing for me. That's really a pain in the ass. You can really create levels easily, but that camera moving is kinda driving me insane xD
It's pretty standard, you just hold Alt for some of them.

Alt + Left Click = Orbit around the scene
Alt + Middle Click = Pan Camera along the X/Z Axis
Alt + Right Click = Smooth zooming
Scrollwheel = Stepped zooming
This is basic Maya-based camera controls. You find the same controls in most other editors. If you've used Blender, then it works camera differently by default, but you can set it to be like Maya, because of how popular it is. What editor have you used before to make this seem weird? Or is this your... first time?
Sometimes the camera acts really weird, i swear. The rest of the editor is really nice and easy, but that camera controls sometimes acting like "trolling" me, really. I work often with the like "in-game" view. And in this panel the camera controls are like "lacking some features" - maybe a way to walk around in that view with the keyboard would be awesome, or the mouse/camera behaving like your playing it. Controls like in the game would be awesome, i guess - you know - walking around with your keyboard and looking around with the mouse.

This really wasn't meant to be a rude thread, really. So i put the stupid '^^' smilies behind it as i was posting the first post. I'm really ready to get along with it and try to improve myself in this, okay.
I think most people (me included) saw the smiley as a sarcastic addition. Lots of people do that sorta thing when they're trying to be rude.

Anyway, you can always use the MapViewer to walk around your map. It would be inconvenient for level editing though.

Personally I always lock the camera to the grid when I work. It feels really awkward for me to move in all directions when Alt-M3ing the camera around. Perhaps you have a similar problem? The lock button should be called LT near the bottom.
