Xerenos

Hey,
I've been really excited to play SOMA for a while now and purchased the game through steam yesterday. First of all I'd like to point out that the game seems amazing so far and I'm really eager to progress through it, but as I have mentioned in the subject of the thread I am having issues with my framerate :/ Sometimes my FPS with be a smooth 60 (This rarely happens) but most of the time my FPS sits around 10-20 which is honestly unplayable. I've tried everything I can think of so far, I've changed all of the graphics settings to minimum which gave me around 5 more FPS, I've verified the game cache through steam, changed my resolution, played around with the refresh rate setting and also switched vSync on/off. None of these things I've tried have helped to better my framerate. My system is capable of running other (similar graphically looking) games at over 60FPS at reasonable graphics settings. My system specs are --> i5 4690k @3.9GHz, 8GB 1600MHz ram, XFX Radeon HD 6850 1GB.
I would really appreciate some help with this as I am super excited to play this game but I don't want to trash my first experience by playing with this framerate. Thanks in advance for any replies!! Smile
Ill guess you have a 1920 screen?
And you are likely to set graphics on maximum?

Dont do this. XD I have a toaster pc under your specs and it works well on almost maximum. But my system is different then yours, so try to set your graphics down to lowest.
Textures first.
Same problem with frame rate here. I have gtx 680, i7, 16gb ram - I can run and play most games on very high settings at 1080p (or mid-high at 1440p) but Soma seems to strain and struggle even at low res. Some areas fair better than others but at "theda*" location the game has taken a nose dive. I'm quite good at tweaking and getting the most out of games but nothing seems to work here. I'm running the latest Nvidia drivers and on gog. Any help would be great.
Those specs are clearly made for SOMA Smile
Can u please try something: Set the resolution to a lower valuem like 1024 and tell me what happens then.
Dropping the resolution doesn't remove the dips unfortunately. Also my computer doesn't seem to be struggling or bottlenecking. I actually do get 60fps on all combination of settings but then it dips in areas drastically and kinda ruins it for me. I'd like to try out the patches but I'm on gog so no luck there, I can certainly wait but it's not a great situation to be in.

Yes, I am playing at 1920x1080 atm.
I tried switching to 1280x1024, 1280x720 and 800x600 but the only difference I saw was on 800x600 and it was still very miniscule (an extra 5 FPS) :/
If its not a frame issue then there has to be some sort of background process that interferes or didnt works right. PLS watch your process manager while playing soma. There should only be SOMA with igh resources, nothing else.

Just checked my process manager while SOMA was open and SOMA is the only one that was using high resources.
I'd confidently say this exact issue is down to the game and not my setup, could be the same with Xerenos. It could just be jarring with the recent Windows 10 drivers and/or needs more optimizing.

I have the same problem, fps drops and stuttering. I run Gta 5 on high settings and 1920x1080 with 60fps and no stuttering wich have much better graphics and it is open world so is not my pc related. Please make a path or something.
