The lift down to the abyss seem to have become stuck in an endless loop. How deep schould it be going? I cannot continue my game, because I cannot reach the bottom of the abyss.

its a long way. 5 minutes of nothingless and then cutscene!
As you can see in the images i posted, the lift has been going for 20 000 meters and it is still going! When I watch normal playthrough, the lift reaches the bottom at around 4000 m
This must be some really weird bug that you got. Would help a lot if you could attach a save game (my documents/my games/soma/main/steam username/).
Other than that only solution is to reload an earlier save.
