NVIDIA gtx 980

waiting for a fix.... Sad
What do you mean "every time the game access the disk"? You mean the rare times between levels? Because that loading is normal, but shouldn't affect your game nor make it unplayable.

Either way, post your hpl.log from Documents\My Game\Soma\Main

I think he's under the impression that certain elements are streamed while playing, which I don't know if that's the case or not, but I suffer from intermittent stuttering that makes my game unplayable as well.

This is exactly my feeling. It can happen when I'm oppening a drawer, opening a door, moving, etc...
The weird thing is that the game continue to play in background during the freeze. I see the begining of the action, freeze and jump directly to the end of the action.
I'm at the begining of the game but I think it can become problematic in certain situations.

Hydragos, can you try the open beta om Steam (are you on Steam) as it fixes refrsh rate issues that are important if running a 144hz monitor. You should also reset your configuration if you manually edited it in a text editor.
I'm on gog. And didn't edit the configuration file.
try verifying cache integrity.

Also, turn off Threaded optimization and shader cache in the nvidia control panel and see if that works.

Finally, could try uninstalling the graphics driver and then installing it again.
Okay, I'm back ... with a fix
I'm playing with a Windows user account using offline files feature for "My documents" folder (to have a backup on the network). This is the cause of the problem.
I created an user with a 100% local profile and all is now perfect. Smooth gaming, etc.

bye...

Hi,
I'm curious about your fix and how its related and fixed your initial problem...
I think the problem is the files hpl.log and hpl_update.log who are locked by the game. In an "offline files" context, it causes the stutter.
