Frictional Games Forum (read-only)

Hey, I'm a Humble Bundle donator and purchaser of the collection. I'm on a 2007 Macbook running OS 10.5.8.

I love the game (wish I hadn't spoiled it for myself a while back when I thought I would never play), but I have an issue with the journals. They appear to be repeating lines, and as I progress it gets worse. I just picked up the note in the Auxiliary tunnels by the wolves, and it had three lines repeated. This wouldn't be so much of a problem if they didn't run over the next line of text, causing me to miss some of the (wonderful) content. Any help?

Can you post a recent saved game ? (in your Library/Preferences/FrictionalGames/Penumbra/Overture folder.)

Yup, here you go. Sorry I didn't put this in Mac Support earlier, I thought that just redirected to the Mac section of the support page. Should have checked, my bad.

Have you guys been able to make any headway on this? If not, don't worry about it; I can look up the journals. I'm just one user and this is a relatively old game that probably doesn't sell a lot anymore, but I've been holding off playing until I've gotten some response, and I want to know whether or not there's been progress. Thanks!

I have actually re-created the error on my side, and right now I'm working through what is causing the issue, as apparently it's been there a long while and no one has reported it. Now a "quick and dirty" way to get the full text is to look a the English.lang file that is located in the config directory where the game is installed. Not completely ideal, but will at least get you the full text for the time being while I track this down.

As an easier "fix" to read the note, check end of this FAQ, it contains all notes:

I also noted the double text line problem.
