I was wondering if anyone has come across any good fonts that look like real handwriting.

I've been hunting some down for my mod, but I can't seem to find any that look good. Most look pretty hokey, and kind of silly, at least for hand writing.
I like using 1001fonts. There I can filter the fonts for commercial use. Although a free mod isn't exactly commercial, I like to be sure I have all rights to use it.
Just be sure to find one that isn't too complex, since it will likely look bad on a small scale within the game.

This one looks like it might work well:

Yeah, I've looked through the main sites and have gathered a few that might work in-game (most look eh), but I was curious to know if anyone has a few that for sure look good when in the game.
If there's a particular look you are looking for, there are sites that will take a scanned template and turn it into a font automatically. http://www.myscriptfont.com/ is one such example.

Though I might also say that if you are looking for a hand-written look on some notes or such, it might be better to make an image of the note in Photoshop or something then put that note on top of an existing note model as a material.

This. No matter how many handwriting fonts you look at, because of how random our writing can be, sometimes it is simply better to write out a note yourself and scan it into the game. Furthermore, it's not just a matter of the font - it's also the graphic tool you use (pen, pencil, paintbrush, etc), since that will also look just that little bit more realistic.
I'm not looking to make a note, although that is a very interesting suggestion. Big Grin

There are two different things I'm looking to accomplish at the moment. 1) Handwriting in dirt and 2) A bloody message written on a table.
If you're not going to be bothering with a note model, then it's even easier, and the recommendation is still to write your own note and scan it in.

Using Photoshop, make the entire canvas a single color or texture (red for blood, brown for dirt, and whatever texturing you wish to use). Then write out a note on paper (black graphite/ink on white paper, preferably). Scan the image into Photoshop, invert the color (so that it is white on black), and put the note as your image's alpha channel. Export the image as a .dds (DXT5), and import it into your map as a decal.
