I pre-ordered Amnesia a few days ago for $18 and now I see that it is on Steam for only $16. The issue I have is that if Frictional Games was planning on giving 20% off on Steam why wasn't the same discount applied to their store?

Sure, it's only a few dollars, but I was a tad upset about this as well.

I'm happy to support the team directly, but at the same time, I'm jobless, so that two dollars could eventually mean the difference between whether or not I get something else I decide to buy, like another of their games or something. I think it'd be nice of the team to offer those who pre-ordered the game at eighteen dollars something that those who pre-order from Steam can't get.

That said, I would like to have my copy be on Steam, and I'd just like confirmation from anyone in the know that we'll get keys or whatever for use on Steam.

I sort of have the same feeling as you, I don't mind the extra two dollars but I'm still annoyed that they made it cheaper on Steam.
14.87 EUR from Frictional Games Store and 11,99€ from Steam?

14,87€ - 11,99€ = 2,88€

That's a lot more than just 2$.

Why's the difference of the prices on the two stores so much bigger with euros?

Frictional have said that pre-orders from their store will be given Steam activation keys on the release date.
We have had as low as 50% discount on Amnesia in our store. We do not set the price for the discount in other stores and did not know Steam would go for 20%. Steam has been really supportive with the release, getting the demo up in time and starting to take pre-orders. So we did not want to go and cry that they had 10% more discount and even more important, we could not image that the option for people to get the game cheaper would be something to complain about.

So sorry about that, we do the best we can and what we think is right, but I think it is safe to say we have our hands full, and going down into the details to notice and control everything is impossible for us.
I'd have paid $60 for Amnesia and been satisfied. Tongue

Are you kidding me?!? 2 dollars? That's like.. 10 kroner, lol.
If you're jobless and 2 dollars make a difference, then why did you buy the game?

Doesn't really apply to me since I bought it for 16$ back in May, just eagerly awaiting us getting steam codes.
Tongue Why you cry about 2$? If you are a real Fan, you would buy it twice only to support the devs! Wink
