I have an Nvidia 9600GT, Windows7 x64. 1920x1080 native resolution LCD TV. I've updated the video drivers, but the problem persists. The sides are cropped so bad at every resolution, that I can't see about 20% on each side. I've tried 1024x768, but the sides are cropped off at this resolution too. Windowed mode (no full screen) is not as bad, but it is not playable either...
This is an actual TV you are trying to play it on? If it is a monitor then there usually is a auto button that will make sure the view is taken up by the entire screen. You should make sure to use a resolution that has the correct ratio compared to the screen (16:9 in this case I think).

But if this is a TV then my personal experience is that they often do not display the input from a computer correctly by default. But in the Nvidia control panel there is a setting where you can adjust the view to be more precise when using a TV as the output. Maybe you can use that?
i have the same problem i was about the start a new thread but found this one. I downloaded the demo today and i am getting crops sides in afull screen mode even at the lowest resolution, i am running it on a ASUS MS226 LCD monitor (full hd), VGA ati hd 5770.

i tried almost every resolution and still getting crops sides...

edit:

i found the solution or at least worked for me( on windows 7 professional)
i had display (icons, windows, and text) set to larger size (150%), changed it to medium (120%) and the full screen mode is working now=D no more crops sides.

now i can finally test the game.
Thanks Katazo,
You are the man! The support I got from Frictional and Valve was worthless. Guess us users have to look out for one another...
Cheers mate!
