Today we have released the tools for Amnesia: The Dark Descent. These are the tools that we used to create the game, anyone interested in game development should take a look.

Using the tools you can create your own "Custom Stories", which can then be shared with other users and be played by using the main menu entry with the same name. You can even create a "Total Conversion" if so wanted, but this would require quite a bit more work and is perhaps not our main intention with the tools.

So check out http://hpl2.frictionalgames.com for information and download. Currently the tools are available for Windows, with Linux and Mac releases coming as soon as possible.

We have provided some basic information on the HPL2 site, but as it is a Wiki, anyone can dig in and help expanding the information, tutorials and so forth. You can also check the Custom Story Forum section for discussions and downloading of any future user creations.

Greatness! I just came from console gaming to the PC world and Amnesia was the very first thing I bought. I was amazed when I heard that the game will get map editor and now it´s out. Finally I can put my twisted mind into use. Thank you guys and I hope you get big sales, you deserve it!

what is wrong with this shit... i downloaded the tools and when i tried to run level editor then it says that alot of files is missing SDL.dll
sounds like this game creator is just fake to me

i know i have read...extract to red list...if not...to main where you find amnesia.exe.... ive downloaded it from steam and there is no red list or amnesia.exe...i have found the main, and extractet it there. but still not working..... is it something when downloading from steam...or i just miss understanding every thing....
and sorry for last comment...was really upset. really want to make something like you gusy have

Well I also bought the game from steam. I extracted files to "steamapps\common\amnesia the dark descent\" and everything works just fine. No problems here.
