Changing from an interactive medium to a non interactive one? Nah.

Now that's a great and crazy cult classic. Hope it get re-released on blu-ray someday.
I actually made a fan video xD

Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMY-q8sXXaQ

Would love to make a short/full feature film but haven't got access to a castle unfortunatly, though a lot of green screen work might do the trick Smile
What is this I don't even...
Well, it's a proof of what can be done with better environments.

Actually, I'd say it's not a mystery movie because in the end everything that seemed mysterious at some point was explained. Nevertheless, a very good movie.
Which is why a direct adaptation wouldn't be as good as a new story that interacts with the original story and setting.

H.P. Lovecraft's: The Necronomicon,
Dagon,
Cube is completely sideways and has a science fiction setting, but something is itching me to mention it.
The Tree of Life has some good Spanish plundering and trip scenes.
And so does Blueberry (Renegade). <---- AMAZING MOVIE.

Also, sorry for the bump.
Didn't realize until it was too late. :/

Cube is a real classic. Cube 2: Hypercube was also pretty interesting but inferior to the first one for sure. Since this topic seems to be more about good horror recommendations rather than creepy old castle horror movies (of which there are few) I'll list some genuinely scary ones:

In the Mouth of Madness
The Thing
The Evil Dead
Hellraiser
Jacob's Ladder

also check out the animated series Salad Fingers which is sure to freak the hell out of you.
