So, I've recently had trouble with the C++ 2010 redistributable but that is ok now. Now that I have gotten the game to boot up, It now sends me to the black box, telling me to go here with this reason: Amnesia.exe caused an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION in module <UNKNOWN> at 0023:00000000 What does this mean? and how do I fix it?

Never seen the error exception before. I assume you have a hard copy of the game? What OS are you using? It may be a permission thing. By the way welcome to the community. Smile
(Also try not to double post.) Wink
When you get a blackbox error, it will be much more useful to post the contents of the hpl.log from Documents\Amnesia\Main. It usually says the reason why it crashed. So if you can, please do that.

I didn't mean to double post, I just posted that then I registered then I did it again to get notifications also, Hpl log? ill have to find it first. and I don't have a hard copy... just a digital version on steam Wink
Don't worry about the double posting - I can't merge the posts or delete the first post since it removes the whole thread anyway~

The hpl.log file is at the same location, digital or retail. Mudbill above states where to look for it.

Like Aceromulator said don't worry about the double post. Look forward to any mods you might have planned. Smile
wait you meant me when you said "Look forward to any mods you might have planned."? also, It seems now I cannot access the black box, as it is crashing.

Correct. Sorry about the confusion. Big Grin

Run Amnesia until it crashes, it does not need to generate a black box. The hpl.log file is generated on the application's load, it does not need to cause a blackbox to appear.
