I bought the Penumbra collection on Steam, whenever i open the first door in a new game of Penumbra: Overture, the game crashes with a segfault. The same happens when i use the screw clamp (with the coin) at the beginning of Penumbra: Black Plague.

My system:
OS: Arch Linux (Kernel: 4.14.6-1-ARCH x86_64)
Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 470 (Mesa: 17.3.0, Driver: amdgpu)
CPU: Intel Core i5-6600

The hpl.log is attached.

Any help to get the games running is appreciated! (Nothing in the Troubleshooting Guides worked so far)
Hello twe123,

So, you cant even get out of the boat ? Can you at least open the cabinet or not at all ?
Where does it crash exactly so i can check if i can reproduce that.

Hi! I basically open the door and for a moment I can see some story-text for the next scene (?) and at that moment it crashes.
Which door are you trying to open in Penumbra Overture for example ?

The very first one. After collecting all the stuff I am able to open the door (i see the opening-cursor) and there the game crashes.
Ok, i remember i had the same kind of issue some years ago, but i cant remember how i solved that.
Let me look into this...

Has there been any update on this?

Btw, I wouldn't mind playing the games in Wine. While that technically works, on shader quality "High" there seems to be no dynamic lighting at all, which destroys the whole atmosphere of the game. On shader quality "Medium" and below lighting works, but all the light effects seems to have the wrong texture size, which looks very buggy. I attached a short video of this effect. Is there maybe an easy way to fix this issue?
Not for now, sorry Sad

I never played penumbra on wine, but it's a strange issue, that's for sure...
Are you using the proprietary drivers for your graphic card or the open source version ?

the open-source one (called "amdgpu"). It's the only one compatible with my card.
Sorry for my late answer, will try that again soon !
So you are using the amdgpu open source driver, ok noted.
