Ok, with this announcement of a Safe Mode and Dreamer's abandonment of solving the fatal error problem with "wuss mode" mod, where the heck is the option for this official safe mode? I don't see it in the in-game menu, or the load game/continue menu either and no one seems to have any clue on how to turn this on.

This is marked as solved, but in case someone else looks up this thread is wondering - you get an option to choose Safe Mode when you start up a new game (as long as you've installed the update). Happy exploring!
