I think Penumbra's story was much more intriguing than amnesia's story. I really felt sorry for Philip, but i didn't care so much about Daniel...
I haven't read all of the posts in here, but I do have something to say.

For me, Amnesia was by far the best one.
Pros: Much more atmosphere. I had to quit playing at one point because I was too damned scared to continue. No weaponry at all. I thought the story was intriguing enough. The real-time flashbacks really helped immersing me in the story.

Cons: Monsters dissappearing after they killed you once: bad idea. Kinda ruined the gameplay. Too short. Also, the storyline arrives at a clear end, thus destroying chances of a sequel (I so would have loved another game in Amnesia's universe).

Penumbra was fun with an interesting storyline. I dare say I enjoyed all three of them (even the last one). The bad thing about the first one was having a weapon. The player should have been all naked with no chances of survival if encountering an enemy. Because right now, I had just so many painkillers I could just rambo into a place, kill everyone and... poof. There goes the scare. Of course, you could just ignore you have a weapon... which I did, in the end, otherwise, it would have been too easy.

Well, they ended up adressing the problem in the second one anyway: no weapons at all. I did have a couple of scares, but overall, Amnesia is the one that litterally made me melt on my chair.

Please. Another game like Amnesia. P-p-p-p-p-p-pleeeaaaase?

if your willing to wait, Asylum should be interesting, not as big as amnesia, but a few hours worth of game play when its done

Ooh, there's going to be another one soon? Any idea what we can expect for a release date?

From my experience in waiting for the other games to be released here, I'd guess 3Q 2012. Then again I don't know how long the new engine will take.

Also, I don't believe Asylum is the name of their next game. I'm not sure what it is.

Hmm... a mod/extension, maybe? Kind of like Requiem was an extension to Black Plague? Though still... as Silenthaunt said, the ending to Amnesia pretty much nixes the option of a sequel.

And 2012? Does Frictional Games == Valve? XD

Edit: Nah, then it'd come out around 2020

I think Asylum is being made by a different company, isn't it? Company called Senscape?
Maybe I'm not talking about the same game, but I saw a trailer of Asylum on Youtube, and idk, it looks pretty scary, but does not have the same horror vibe that comes from Frictional Games' work like Penumbra and Amnesia.

lol, yeah kinda. But they don't have too long of pauses in between games. They work surprisingly fast for having so few people. But who knows, maybe this time FG will spend a lot of extra time making the new physics engine so maybe they don't have to make a new one so soon.

Hmm... I might actually prefer that. Amnesia's physics are pretty good, but I'm willing to wait a bit for some nice improvements. I've got Myst to hold me over Tongue
