Hello, I have, with the help of 2 others, developped a mod for Amnesia: TDD. This mod makes the game a lot darker, creepier, and even a bit harder.

Can you finish an even darker version of the game, with only 16 minutes of lantern oil (oil barrels not included) available throughout the entire game?

Here's the general change list:
  • Events:
    - ALL events will happen. Daniel talks to himself at certain points, etc.

  • Daniel
    - moves 20% slower
    - pushes objects like beds, beams, rocks, etc 20% slower (to match the 20% movement speed decrease)
    - loses sanity slower from being in the dark
    - loses sanity faster when monsters/critters/etc are near
    - gains sanity at a slightly faster rate from being in light
    - being in the dark is, a lot darker
    - heals at a lower rate (the automated selfheal. Healing from potions is unchanged)

  • Lantern/light
    - lantern light is weaker/illuminates less
    - lantern uses more oil

  • Monsters
    - monsters are invisible in the dark

  • Menus
    - The main menu will list "Start New Game" as "Start New Game (Hard)"
    - Alternate colored loading screen
    - Alternate health and sanity descriptions
    - Every level of sanity has been moved down one notch
    - The highest sanity is changed from green to yellow
    - The lowest sanity is changed from red to purple
    - In a way, it's virtually impossible to have "Crystal clear" sanity
    - sanity levels and descriptions are cosmetic; the actual values of sanity are unchanged

  • Maps
    - changed most maps to be of a darker setting with more of an uncomfortable atmosphere
    - added a few little surprises on the way

I have played through the game with this mod enabled. Despite the 20% movement speed decrease, places like the parts with the water lurker and other such events are entirely possible.
nice effort there. to me, this mod would make the game totally unappealing since it throws the last remains of realism out of the door. if at all, monsters should move slower, not daniel. this would give him the slight possibility of escape and would therefore change the gameplay into a more positive direction.
Have you tried the Prison with this mod yet? I'd imagine that is where the run speed matters a lot.
As I stated, the entire game is playable even with the slower movement speed.

Really, the slower movement speed isn't that much of a difference. I was going for the feeling people often have in a nightmare, where they are trying to flee from something but can't move faster (or at all in some cases).

Edit: files are up.
This sounds like a great idea! I will check it out Smile
Something went wrong with the maps, I will have to edit them myself again.

Edit: the maps for chapter 1 (beginning ~ elevator) are done and up.
All maps are done.
Where do we need to put the file for the steam version(windows 7).
