Hello, I have been creating a water area. First the water reflected what was above, now after playing around with some lights that reflection has been removed.

What causes the water to reflect the surrounding world?
1. Create a spotlight
2. Gobo -> gobo_water_001.dds
3. Anim Mode -> Loop
4. Frame Time: 0.08
Oh, I used that to reflect the water on the surrounding world. Didn't know it worked in both directions! thanks
Perhaps I am creating the spotlight wrong but that didn't help. What I am talking about is the water mirroring the world. When you look into the water you see a reflection of what is around. I am wondering what causes that reflection?

Edit: Can it be that the engine turns reflection off due to performance issues?
You have to use the correct material to get the world to reflect, check one of the amnesia maps that reflect the world (not all water does) in the level editor to see what material it uses.
Now I've found the issue. It was quite strange. It has to do with walls I have added on the map. As soon as I remove them the water starts reflecting the world again. But when I add them the water doesn't reflect the world any more. It doesn't matter where I add these walls. I don't know if this is a bug jens, perhaps I should send the map so that you may look at it?

Edit: Worked around it & made the map work.

I know this is an old post but I also have a problem with trying to get the water in my map to reflect the environment. I wish Acies mentioned how he fixed his. Help please.
It was a strange issue (so long ago though). A couple of walls from the "last level/orb room" stopped reflections from happening. Might have had crossing spotlights - but removing those wallpieces solved it.
Maybe there was a leak in the map because of those walls. In Source, leaks would prevent the map's radiosity and reflections from being compiled thus forfeiting the map's shading and lighting.
