Hiya. I've completed all the tasks in the cistern, turned the three valves plus turned off the steam, collected all notes, oil, tinderboxes, etc. After I'd turned off the last valve, I went back to leave the cistern via the original exit and my way is blocked by the red goo webs! I can't find a reference to this problem anywhere. Anyone know why this is happening and what I can do about it?
Did you go to the morgue?
There's either a door or a tunnel like area off to the right wall (from the entrance) of the Cistern.
You got red goo webs so you did morgue level before this level. There's another route on the other side of the tunnel, what you need to use to get to the door.
If the level is like this:

~= Water
Walk to the other side of the water (left side), then walk OVER the red goo. It will hold your weight. Then you can go to the exit.
Is it normal, that there is no slime?
I have turned off all three wheels for water and the wheel for steam.
Then I hear the water monster but it is not there and there is no slime I can exit cistern normally.
First time I played the game, there was slime. But now it is not.

I think it depends on how long you were inside. If you take too long, it will appear.
No. it depends if you've done all things in the morgue before going into the cistern area. If you leave the cistern area last, you get that red slime.

Yesterday, I was going first into the cistern and there was slime.
Tomorrow I had to load an ond savegame and went again first into the cistern and there was no slime.
I did not go to the morgue first. What I finally did was I let the water monster kill me, and when I came back to life the slime was gone and I could exit. The game told me "paths change..."
