You cannot block it, he will get through in any case! I tried to block with a barrel and he destroyed it through the door (I wonder how strong that wolf must be....)! I would recommend that you kill the wolf, it makes the game alot easier and takes less time! It is really easy to kill him as well, because he will fall down if you hit him with the hammer (and later pickaxe..) and when he rises up you hit him again, he falls down - repeat this until dead.

I fished it on hardest setting and not 1 animal was harmed when I played (except a few spiders )
