So most of us know that at least some of the monster sightings are hallucinations brought on by Daniel's unhinged mind. What I'm curious about is which ones are real and which ones are not.

I'm pretty sure the one in the wine cellar is a hallucination, but I'm not brave enough to run up and test that theory. I also suspect a couple in the prison of being products of Daniel's imagination. So does anyone here know which one are real and which ones aren't?
You could always open up the maps in the editor and check, but that's the coward's way. Go up and present your chin!

Sounds like a great idea. You wanna help me out? XD
I can't help but think of that saying: Curiosity killed the Cat. Tongue

"Hi there, Servant, are you real or a hallu-..." "RUUUAAWL!" *Slash!*

it's not, it can and will kill you

Look for this fun one

In the archives after causing the cavein, return to the hall where you get a glimpse of your first grunt, then head to where the rubble is blocking the way off, stand in front of it, turn and face it, then turn around

enjoy
Pretty sure none of the prison ones are, apart from the one a you are leaving to the cistern.

The wine cellar one is a hallucination AFAIK.

Your first real monster sighting is in the guest bedroom, when you move close to the right hand side ward-robe he triggers. But I think at-least 25% of monsters would be fakes.

No it is not, I've been killed by it

EDIT: Just checked on the map editor too, it's not flagged as a hallucination, it can and will kill you, as I said before
The first sewer encounter is a hallucination.
All the enemies in the storage, prison, refinery and guest room are not hallucinations. All water lurkers are not hallucinations.

Though two enemies behind the doors (in areas you cannot access) in the prison both will not try to chase you or react to you if you "somehow" end up on their side.

If it wasn't it would make the sewers the hardest level to speedrun Wink. As it turns out, that award is just stolen by storage.
