Frictional Games Forum (read-only)

Hello, I have purchased and played Amnesia: the Dark Descent on my PC (Vista, nVidia) and it's always worked fine. I recently downloaded the new patch with Justine, and now I cannot access either game without receiving a message that says EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION. I've uninstalled and reinstalled both applications MULTIPLE times, PLEASE HELP!

Hmmm....If you say that the incident occured AFTER installing the new patch, there must be something wrong with the releasment components. I got the same problem with La Caza Full Conversion. But since you own a Vista, you can try running Amnesia as an Administrator.

Make sure you have the latest gpu drivers found here:

It is really important to attach the hpl.log file found under Documents/Amnesia/Main folder
