I'm sure it's AMD, because my Inspiron 15R has two graphics cards for use, integrated and dedicated, and the dedicated is the AMD Radeon HD 6470M card...and it's not the driver that's the problem, its the fact that its reading the integrated graphics, the Mobility Intel ® HD Graphics card. And I'm not sure how to make it choose the AMD card. Btw, I'm sorry, but I'm not sure also what is a GPU...

GPU = Graphics Processing Unit = Graphics Card

OK, since your problem is making the game detect the dedicated one do this:

Integrated card interferes:

Quote:Check the hpl.log found in the the game's save directory:

Windows: "My Documents/Amnesia/"
Linux: ".frictionalgames/Amnesia/"
Mac: "Library/Application Support/Frictional Games/Amnesia/"

and see if you see something like:

"Renderer: GDI Generic
Version: 1.1.0"

If so, this means that OpenGL uses an integrated card instead of your proper graphics card. There are known ways to fix this in Windows:

1) Go into the "device manager" which is found by entering System in Control Panel and then clicking on the "Hardware". Find the display drivers and the right click on the card that is NOT your main graphics card, and choose disable. Reboot and try again.

2) Update the drivers for the integrated card. For example updating drivers for "Enhanced Display Driver Helper (ASUS Other Device)" has been reported to fix this issue.

3) Enter the control panel for the graphics card and set the proper (non-integrated) card as the preffered device to use. Here is how it looks for a user: http://frictionalgames.com/forum/thread-...l#pid34691

4) Enter Display Properties and make sure that the desktop color depth is 32.

Well this is not really well explained so if you need any more help please ask me.

I know, I went to the link you supplied earlier, it didn't work, thanks though, this is a tough case to solve, i'm actually going to have someone come over this weekend to see what they can do...
you may also be able to disable the embedded gpu from bios. It is better to be there so wait for the person to come. If he doesn't help you we might try something else, we'll see...

I already said I can't disable the embedded (integrated) gpu from the BIOS, and I already talked to the person and he said he will come here on the weekend and we'll see what we need to do...

Actually, do you know if steam released an update for this problem? Because what I'm going to try to do this weekend is activate it on steam and see if there's an update, but before I do that, I just wanted to check if someone knew...
Well the latest steam patch should be a similar to v1.2 for retail users. The are a total of 2 patches that FG has released but steam tends to alter them a little bit. The changelog can be found here:

by the way, look here:

It says it has Intel Graphics, no AMD. Even if I select the other same model that's called combo mod or something like that is has AMD Radeon HD 5650. Neither has 6470M. Did you tell us the wrong model?

Ah sorry, I thought I put in that it was 2nd Gen until I went back and realized that I was stupid and forgot to put that...yes, the 2nd Gen has the AMD Radeon HD 6470M graphics...and the person I was going to have come over couldn't figure it out either.
You have Windows 7 x64, right? Why is this not working?

Can you pm me your service tag of the laptop so that I can find you drivers? Dell doesn't have your model at drivers section, no idea why. Let's try with service tag.

How to find your service tag:
