Did you ever think about custom sounds?

I tried to modify the player's steps on the wood and it sounded well
In fact, I changed the steps with the "strange" creaky-wood steps you can hear sometimes early in the game (they are located in redist/sound/scare) but i did not exchange the steps when you go on the carpets because it's more realistic. I could add a download link as well. Say your opinions!

Replace the sounds with the ones in the folder redist/sound/step

Remember to do a backup of the original sounds before exchanging the files!

Hmm... the sounds are ok, but when you jump on wooden floor, there's something like stone sounds.

It doesn't happen when you jump, it happens when you walk near walls. I think that bug did already exist, propably because of the walls.

Very interesting idea, but the sound you use seems to only work for walking. While running it doesn't seem to fit and sometimes the steps don't line up. Still, with some tweaking you could get this to be more realistic.
