I've tried dragging the mouse cursor up, down, left, right, all around. Am I missing something?

let go of the wheel and click the door on the opposite side of the hinges like you would an ordinary door. I had trouble opening at first as well but you just gotta click the actual door panel on the proper side and open it by pulling it up.
