Im sure this is a common problem for many users and i have read many forums on this but i do not know which one to trust.

So i recently purchased Amnesia from Steam but when i try to launch the game, it says: FATAL ERROR Renderer#0 cannot be initialized. Please check that your graphics card drivers are up to date. As mentioned before my windows7 pc has the intel HD graphics card and apparently it is not compatible with this game. I've already tried updating my driver but results are still the same. What should i do?

Is there any specific driver i should download or do i have to buy a new graphics card, and if so, which one specifically? Basically what should i do to fix this problem >.>

if you have Intel HD then install the latest driver which is 2361. That should work.

i've been having the same problem, and although i updated the driver to the most recent and the game does work, it is terribly slow. any ideas?

your card can barely run the game. You are lucky it even can run it like that. If you want though, attach us here the file HPL.log found under Documents\Amnesia\Main folder.

Im having the exact same problem except I cannot even get past the launch screen and I have updated my driver so I really don't know if there is anything else I can do. Help would be much appreciated!

Will the Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family work? I have tried several times, and its black or, the graphics are messed with, its all pixely. I can still move around and hear stuff despite the blackness/random pixels.

Currently only the Intel HD chipset will work. Maybe Intel can continue and improve the drivers for the older integrated chips as well.

Well thank you anyways, I guess i will have to wait until my birthday for an upgrade

also, i just realized that certain parts of the game run super smooth with no flaw, such as the entrance hall corridors towards the wine cellar and such, i guess because they are small spaces and don't require too much power. my graphic settings are all low, which sucks because this game is probably crazy when all the graphic settings are high, but i just want to play it already!

Do a file integrity check because there are some small errors at the log at the WineCellar area. Maybe though these happen because of the card.
