Full Version: Framedrop when going into battle

The game runs pretty good, not perfect, but good enough. I can even turn on fancy features like motion blur without too much loss of FPS.

The problem I have is that, when I get into battle with my trusty axe, the game suffers a massive framedrop, usually getting extremely choppy after I smack something, making it hard to do anything for about a second. This usually results in death. Very annoying.

Anyone having the same problems? Chaning some settings around doesn't seem to help much.

Running on a 3000+ X64, 6800GT and 2GiB RAM. XP pro.

edit: I edited after I noticed the "drop" already started before I make the first blow, but it still gets worse when I hit a critter.
Turn off motion blur & any other special effect, you think your pc can run. as this is what is causing the slowdowns.
it has nothing to do with graphics
its a bug where the ai goes into a infinite loop
youl have to wait for the patch

Glad to know it's being worked on. Thanks.
Any ETA? I'm reviewing this game, would be nice if I could get some info, so I could change my releasedate and/or include some info Smile

still, it is common sense to reduce the graphics if you are encountering slowdowns when in battles.

I put everything to low, but it still goes 1 FPS when I start swinging.
I'm pretty much stuck now since I can't win a fight anymore. (The problem seems to have gotten bigger in the later parts of the game)
its like i said, its the ai, not the gfx
i do not know an ETA, thomas or jens will have to tell you that
This problem is probably not a problem with the AI. It is either a slowdown due to the physics, but since you have a good computer I doubt that is the cause, or it is because of graphic-card issues happening with the skinning.

You could try downgrading the drivers as suggested here:

In any case it is strange, since you have pretty much the same specs as me (actually even better).
Does it lag when you are swiping at an object or mid-air, or only when trying to take out one of the the wee doggies?
Nope, only actually hitting an enemy.
It's 10FPS in battle, then when I hit an enemy, the screen freezes and then starts to pick up on FPS again.
In the time that the screen freeze, the enemy in question gets up and runs to get all his buddies. Then I'm pretty much screwed.
