Full Version: Need general help with the editor.

hey, so ive been messing around with the editor just learning basics and got a room done.

using the editor has been hard getting used to because im so used to hammer and im not gonna lie, the camera controls are awful.

Other than that i love it but could some people here help me out with some things such as.

Im so used to hammers brush based mapping(primitives) so what are good tips for this transition.

What are useful keybinds (all i know is q, w and e)

What rules need to be followed, like will there be issues if i dont block off an area with a wall, such as leaks in hammer(everything needs to be closed up either by brushes or a skybox)?

What can you do to optimize a map.

Can primitives only be used as a floor and ceiling? when i made a wall with one it was black and wouldnt light up.

A lot of the time things dont match right even if they are in the same prop set, and even if they are the same prop. Any help with this?

Anything else that could be helpful.

Thanks, i read most of it earlier but i never saw anything on optimization, leaks, or keybinds which are my major questions atm.
