Hello. My friend has been playing Amnesia ever since it first came out with no problems. But out of the blue today, he started getting the something is wrong crash. The reason I'm posting this instead of him, is because when he ever tries to make a FGF account, it doesn't send him the verification email.

The crash says this:
!!!GAME CRASHED!!! READ THIS: something is wroooooong if all fails go to frictional games caused an exception_Access_violation in module unknown at 001b:00000000

He said that's all it says

Please help him Tongue

I researched a little bit. It's called the 'blackbox problem'. Also, there's something missing in the error you wrote: "..if all fails go to frictional games caused an exception_Access_violation.." After the frictional games and before the caused, there should be the name of what caused it. Usually it's Amnesia.exe ... The posts I've read say to update your drivers.
He didn't install any driver...
GDI generic. He needs to update his graphics card drivers. Actually like Tan said, he has no drivers at the moment. He needs to have drivers installed.

Would just upgrading to Windows 7 caused his drivers to uninstall? I'll tell him to install his drivers and then I'll report back Smile
If he upgraded from vista to 7, he would usually keep his drivers. From XP however, he would need to do a clean install and therefore lose all drivers.
no he would not. He needs to reinstall the grapgics card drivers which are compatible with Windows 7.

Yes I believe he used to be on XP, so I will tell him if he is online right now.
