Interesting that it felt like that to you... I perceived it to be the exact opposite. I rarely used the lantern and never ran out of oil, because the darkness felt much safer than the light. In fact I only used the lantern when it was so dark that I would have gotten lost otherwise, because I was extremely paranoid that a monster could see me if I turned it on. Comes from playing too much Thief maybe? Wink

If it were a real situation, you wouldn't be able to tell how much oil you have left until it is depleted. That alone could elevate the tension to far more realistic levels. Not knowing just exactly when you'll run out would encourage you to use it more sparingly.

Perhaps it might start fading or flickering or something to indicate more oil is needed. I don't know. I'm not sure how these old lantern thingies actually work.
