Solved: 8 Years, 1 Month ago EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION in module <UNKNOWN>
Hello, I have the same problem that someone described, but I have my graphic card drivers up to date, and I also tried to erase the main_setting.cfg file from the Amnesia Main folder; it still won't run.
What shall I do?
I have Windows 8, 32 bit, with AMD HD Radeon 4600 graphic card;
desktop;
I play the game through Steam.

Some time ago it used to work, now it won't.

I attach here the hpl log file.

Thanks everyone.

Looks like it missing a lot of files...
Where is the config for example?? not even a error about your main init file...?
The hpl doesnt really tell what the problem is...
Does the came give a OOOOPS SOMETHING IS WRONG box?
Or does the launcher not work??
Does the game startup and when you try to START GAME does it crash then?

Do you mean the "main_settings" file? It's in the "main" folder, where it should be.
Yes, the launcher works out but when I choose "launch game" or "Justine", the blackbox appears and says "OOOOPS SOMETHING IS WRONG", with the "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION in module <UNKNOWN>" description.

I have installed the most recent driver for my graphics card.

Thanks for replying.

The default Microsoft drivers from Windows Update do not include OpenGL supoort. You don't have the drivers properly installed. Check the graphics card troubleshooting guide and manually update your drivers by visiting amd.com.

Are you sure that it's just a matter of graphics card? Because I used to play Amnesia some time ago.

I just checked my graphic card driver with AMD driver Autodetect Tool and it says that my driver is up to date. I have an AMD ATI RADEON HD 4600, driver version: 8.97.10.6.

The Autodetect tool is crap. Visit amd support and manually download the latest driver for your graphics card (legacy Catalyst 13.1).

Dammit, the AMD Catalyst fails to update the video driver. I attach here the report of the installation: the error message is at the end of the log, I will translate from Italian: "the specified driver package wasn't installed for the matching hardware".
What does this mean?
