Star  SOMA Fanart Thread

With baited breath I present the SOMA Fanart Thread! Here are the rules:

1. The art must be SOMA related.
2. Make sure to put images in spoiler tags.
3. If commenting on another's work either quote the post or put a @artistinhere in your post.
4. Any form of SOMA art can be put here, just make sure to say if there is any spoilers about the game in your piece.
5. Post direct links from Imgur, you don't have to have an account to upload and you don't have to release the art onto the Imgur community, it also archives your piece forever (no more 'image expired' bull)!
6. Have fun! Tongue

To kick start the thread, here's a piece that took me over an hour, it's meant to be a post card with all the monsters that I saw in the game so far:

TheDoctorPoo, must it be only image? I'm making animation in Blender inspired by in-engine effects:underwater blur and bloom, chromatic aberration and lens distorsion. But, I've made it all exaggerated. So, it's not SOMA content related but engine effect related. Could I put it here?

If you are planning on using it for some form of SOMA related things (mod, cartoon, 3D Animation) then by all means yes!

If not, maybe post it in the modeling, non-Amnesia thread in Off-Topic? Anyway, good luck! Tongue

Sure, go ahead. I'm sure he just thought of images as they are most common. Fan art can be anything really, but how do you show it off without an image (that is, if it isn't a video, as this case). Decide for yourself.

I would like to use it for mod after making .dds sequence of images and animate it in editor. I intend to use it for UI animation in game. I'm learning how to do it. It is inspired with engine's distorsion screen effect.

Well, it's quite abstract but so is SOMA's story. Smile
Can I use sequence of images as billboard particle effect in game? I know that is possible in Blender but I haven't got experience with HPL editor.

I'm sure @fancreeper will do something too.

Wow, you are a really good programmer. When you finnish SOMA, could you make for it too ?
You know in the last boss room in Amnesia when animation of the portal starts ?
I would like to place similar animations in the level. It starts when something triggers it; when player triggers something else, it stops.

On the other hand, can this tool make emmited billboard particle effects ? For example, with a keyboard button you start script of releasing a spell out of hand ? And by spell I mean sequence of .png images with start and end coming out of hand with area effect.

When I render it you'll see what I mean.

Oh no, far from. Just do some casual programming here and there.
This thread might not be the best one to discuss this, so we should keep this short and not throw this thread off-tracks. My tool might work just fine for SOMA. I haven't tested it. Though, it wouldn't work well for a 3D animation, obviously, so your spell thing might be a bit far fetched. You're probably better off with some custom model and animation. This tool is only for 2D videos.
