Amnesia-Style Inventory Management System

The current inventory system is pretty minimalistic, showing the tools that players have on them but not allowing them to equip anything. For the core game of SOMA, this is sufficient, as the player never has more than one or tools on them at any given time, and tool interaction is context-based rather than manual. But people who make custom content might wish they had a more powerful inventory system at their disposal.

This mod is a utility library for people who wish to make their mods with an inventory system more reminiscent of that of Amnesia: The Dark Descent. In addition to giving a dedicated screen to the player for them to view and equip their carried tools, it also boasts a journal system as well, allowing the player to receive all kinds of extra content they can view at their leisure.

This mod also comes with a short demo map that includes some of the common ways content creators might implement such an inventory system. Feel free to crack open the script file for the map to see how it all works.

To download the mod, go to Steam Workshop or ModDB to pick it up. I've also written up an article on the wiki, detailing its use more thoroughly.

Well, that's my derp. Forgot to include a couple extra image files. They should be included now in the Workshop, which should update automatically. I'm working on getting an update on ModDB, but once I do that one will have to be re-downloaded if you got it from there.

It's working normally now. Thanks)

um, you are aware AAMFP's inventory was even more basic than SOMA's, since it basically did not have one.

Bring on the derps. I haven't actually had the chance to play AMFP much, so I just assumed. Tongue (You know what they say about when you assume...)

I haven't tried it out yet, but have you tested this to function the same on a 4:3 ratio screen?
Great work btw.

Great work btw.

I tested it across a few different aspect ratios. Other than some noticeable stretching on extreme widescreen resolutions, it seems to work fine.

RE: Amnesia-Style Inventory Management System

encountered a minor bug. If you hit escape while being in the journal(and possibly also the inventory) then cursor will be disabled and the player will be able to look around while journal is still overlayed.
