Amnesia crashing when item is picked up

I just completed my CS, The Curse of Ripley Manor (http://www.moddb.com/mods/the-curse-of-ripley-manor) and although a fair few have played and completed it unfortunately a few people are experiencing crashes which I cant explain. One particular person experiences a crash any time he picks up an object, whether it be a note, plant pot, etc. He has verified his cache on steam, deleted any cache files from the CS folder, deleted all traces of .msh files from story folder, deleted his main_settings.cfg + user_settings.cfg files and even completely deleted Amnesia and reinstalled but is still having the problem.

He has sent me his log file, I dont know if anyone can extract anything useful from it?

Just to let you know, I can't see the error because it hasn't hit the end of the log, so I'm not sure.

While this has nothing to do with the crash, deleting the .msh files would have prevented all those out of date errors above.

Yes - it looks like you're using Machine for Pigs assets here. Have you remembered to regenerate your .msh files? Deleted the .anim files? Try scrapping those .msh files and open the model in the ModelViewer, which will regenerate one for you.

It might also be easier to help if you direct the player who has this problem here to report it themselves so that we can ask them to test this more directly.

I have included all data up to the end of the log file, that is where it ends. I have since told him to delete all the .msh files but he said this still didnt help his crashes.

I didn't think you had to open every single model and resave, just the enemies so they walked properly? But I did delete .msh files and instructed him to do the same if he found any. I will send him a link to this page, cheers.

It shouldn't be necessary to manually regenerate each one - only the enemies as you said. But deleting the old .msh files still applies.

But apart this from issue what else could cause the game to crash when something is picked up? Plenty of people have played my story without issues so it must be something with Amnesia itself?

Did you say, spawn an enemy, and allocate pathnodes with a loop that loops forever?

Have you suggested a redownload of the CS in case of corrupted files?

Not in the first level, after the first note is picked up all that happens is a message is displayed on screen. However, to get to this stage the intro must be completed where a manpig walks, hits a script area, fades to black and teleports the player. All of this works fine I believe, so I dont know if the crashes are AMFP related, because many people have played the story without issues.

I suppose a re-download of the story couldn't hurt though.

It might be possible for the manpigs to function without the 1.3 patch, if they are saved as servant_grunt type. You should test the player's version by executing some piece of 1.3 code at the start which will obviously crash for anyone not having 1.3 installed. This can at least filter out those users so they don't get a seemingly random crash later on.

Along with this you can also prompt a warning that tells them that if they get a crash at this point, then it means 1.3 is not installed properly.
