Next game: My ideas

This may or may not have been done before, but I just wanted to throw these few idead out here.

CO-OP
-------
* Both players have to use their headset, and when they talk, the monsters can actually hear them, so they will have to whisper at all times, and you get harder to hear as you go further away from your partner. Not sure if this is possible though.

SINGLE PLAYER
---------------
* More random appearances of monsters, much like in Left 4 Dead with its AI director. Playing Amnesia for the second time, you could already tell where the monsters would be.

* More hallucinations. (E.g: Monsters that would come after you that aren't real,..)

* Outdoor environments. For example: A chase through the dark woods could be pretty intense.

* Greater variety in enemies. Maybe the dogs fom Penumbra?

* Day/Night cycle. Could be pretty cool, not sure how to use it in a creative way yet.

These are some of the ideas I had. What do you think?

Pretty cool ideas, even if most of them were often mentioned before.

Yeah I think the part you mentioned about the hallucinations would be pretty cool. Say, have the monsters basically about the same as they are now, but everytime you see a monster, there's a (50/50? 60/40?) chance that it will be a hallucination and do no damage, but you have no way of knowing right away. Or maybe take the existing hallucination effects like the blurry screen and wierd sounds and just add to that a bit, like actually seeing monsters that aren't really there.

I think 50/50 chance of the monster being a hallucination would get pretty old and take away from the novelty of hallucinations.

The best idea you have said would have to be the co-op one.

I think random monsters and more halucinations would be really cool

I think a larger variety would ruin the scares for people, because then you're spending more time wondering which monster it's gonna be rather then worrying about how scared you are

True. And the dog's from Penumbra aren't that scary at all. :\

A good theme for a possible another horror game would be with demons and spirits.

Well that would be because demon dogs are overdone to hell thanks to Silent Hill

demons and spirits you get with Clive Barker's Undying...I think anyway

The shadow is also in a way, a spirit, I know the game says otherwise at points, but that's just flavor text, it can be any way you spin it.

As for demons, the grunts and brutes are sorta demons. Eldritch entities from another plane of existence that possess humans and reshape their bodies.

But that's just my way of viewin it...

I like the idea of more outdoor stuff.

On another note, I like the idea of hallucinations, sounds interesting indeed.
