Chrome is telling me that the file may be malicious. Is this the best option I have right now?

RE: A missing file - Desura - plutomaniac - 09-10-2013

It's a dll, that's why. It is not a virus.

RE: A missing file - Desura - saiyan - 09-10-2013

I've never done anything like this before. So I went to that link and clicked on "How to install". Then I followed those directions and it began to scan my computer. Attached is a screen shot of what I got now. I have no idea manually place a file into a directory. Or do I click on "Fix errors"?

RE: A missing file - Desura - plutomaniac - 09-10-2013

No, no. These are advertising products to fix errors. Uninstall that program.

Download DLL

Extract this and copy the .dll file to Amnesia A Machine for Pigs directory (the same as aamfp.exe).

RE: A missing file - Desura - saiyan - 09-10-2013

Dang it, ok I uninstalled that. I'll check my Norton later. So I got that and placed the file in the redist folder, which is the same as aamfp.exe. Now another window popped up saying I'm missing MSVCR100.dll. Ahh how come I don't have these files?

Download DLL

If you are like this other guy with the steam copy then I guess this should be the last file. He said that two .dlls were missing from his directory.

RE: A missing file - Desura - saiyan - 09-11-2013

It launched good, but I wanted to see if everything was good and normal after playing it. I've done around 15 minutes and everything seems great. I hope it stays like that! I just saved and quit. So it looks like I was missing two files, I'm not sure why though. Pluto you've been amazing and a fantastic help, thank you! I can finally enjoy the game! Thanks again Pluto

Glad I could help. Have fun playing the game.

@ Jens: Do you have any idea why these files tend to be missing from certain directories? Maybe the game relies on finding them at System32 or SysWOW64 but since some people don't have them installed why not include some local copies with the game .exe?

RE: A missing file - Desura - jens - 09-11-2013

Yeah we are fixing it right now! It is quite likely like this: All us developers, testers and reviewers play a lot of games so we have at some point installed software with the needed .dlls into the system folder. So we have not noticed that we with the game include an old dll 71 instead of the needed dll 100..

Exactly, that makes tons of sense. These two are the most common. I've seen some other missing DLL's around. Some for directx input or similar.

The SDL.dll one is because people try to run the test .exe from the desktop. Btw, I saw that you added the latest SDL library this time, great! Problem removed from troubleshooting guide.
