Death (band) - Halps - 07-07-2007 Here's some imformation from wikipedia: "Death was an influential American death metal band founded in 1983 and dissolved in 1999. Chuck Schuldiner, guitar/vocals, is widely credited as one of the pioneers of the death metal genre. The band's debut Scream Bloody Gore is considered a genre template. Schuldiner was the only member to remain in the band from start to end." One of the best bands ever. Chuck Schuldiner was genius songwriter and godfather on death metal. Their debut Scream Bloody Gore created a blueprint for a whole new metal genre. Albums: Scream Bloody Gore (1987) Leprosy (1988) Spiritual Healing (1990) Human (1991) Individual Thought Patterns (1993) Symbolic (1995) The Sound Of Perseverance (1998) RE: Death (band) - Dark - 07-07-2007 ok it could be a great band but what are you saying? we need to check them out? RE: Death (band) - djc23 - 08-14-2007 They are actually pretty cool and I don't usually like Death Metal. Didn't really like there first few albums though as Chuck was still very much a novice guitarist but he REALLY improved and pushed the band into interesting new territories later. My favourites are "Flesh And The Power It Holds" and "Story To Tell". Oh yeah thought I might add they aren't the cliche kind of extreme metal band (tremolo picked riffs, blast beats and cookie monster vocals). They have mellow sections, guitar solos that are actually melodic as opposed to atonal (although they do these when needed too!), catchy riffs ala more conventional metal and an overall progressive approach to composition. RE: Death (band) - Dark - 08-14-2007 you mean more in the sense of melodic death metal? (children of bodom, in flames, etc...) lim now listening to Fledh an the power it holds (i was like lol 8 mins :p) they are pretty good any other suggestions? Quote:...(tremolo picked riffs, blast beats and cookie monster vocals)...dunno what tremolo picked riggs are but blast beats are cool :p and about the vocals...well it depends, sometimes they cant do it any other way its not like the vocalist of slayer (that king dude) who screams like a woman RE: Death (band) - djc23 - 08-14-2007 Dark Wrote:you mean more in the sense of melodic death metal? (children of bodom, in flames, etc...)Yeah I would say they were an influence on Children of Bodom etc. And I don't mind blast beats either it's just boring when the drummer does it the whole way (or most or the way) through the song. In fact all those things I mentioned have there place but some bands rely on them too much. RE: Death (band) - Dark - 08-14-2007 i read it on wikipedia that they are a influence on most metal bands anyway, any good suggestions for songs? flesh and the power it holds is good ^^ RE: Death (band) - djc23 - 08-14-2007 Dark Wrote:i read it on wikipedia that they are a influence on most metal bands "Bite the Pain" is another goodie.
