[solved]Can't run Episode One Demo - Alpha23 - 07-17-2007

Hi!

When trying to start the Episode One Demo, I get the following error message:
"PenumbraDemo.exe caused an EXCEPTION_IN_PAGE_ERROR in module cg.dll at 001B:008167F1, GetAtomString()+148643 byte(s)"

What can I do? I also tried to fix the problem by installing the patch, but I still get the same error message.

System specs: Windows XP SP2, AMD Athlon 3000+, 1 GB RAM, GeForce 7600 with latest Forceware Drivers, DirectX 9

Thanks for your help!

Regards, Timo

1) Are you really sure you have the latest graphics drivers?
2) Have you managed to start the game and change any settings?
3) Post contents hpl.log found in "My Documents/Penumbra Overture/Episode 1"

to 1) yes, I also reinstalled them
to 2) no, the demo doesn't even start!
to 3) the file is empty!

There are two versions of the Demo - does on of them encounter problems with starting the engine?
Thanks for your support!

Regards, Timo

Hi again!

I have found the source of the error: It's just my HD, producing bad clusters which prevent Penumbra from running normally. You can delete the whole thread so that other users aren't distracted from the important technical problems.
