Take it this way, what did you learn from this? Always to make backups!

Now that's said, check if there's something left on the folder you installed Steam. Maybe you get lucky and the Custom Story files are still there, since I don't believe uninstallation of Steam would remove those.

However, you can always re-download games that you have bought through Steam so nothing lost there. Just install Steam again and start downloading the games you want.

And of course you now reinstalled the things and did a lot of write-operation on the disk, amiright? Congratulations! You just buried your chance to restore data.
NEVER, never do any actions (file copying, moving, etc) on the physical disk where important data was, because such action could overwrite the sectors and make restoration impossible.
First thing you do after you stopped to desperately RAEG all over - use some tools like EasyRecovery and try to restore deleted data.

Steam is the greatest shit what you can have.
It destroyed all games. A game is nothing worth with Steam obligation.
So, I'll never buy a game that uses Steam.
Steam and DRM activation is an inadmissible protection!!!

Steam explicitly tells you to back-up a specific folder before uninstalling steam. That folder is to keep save-files and the games on your computer so you don't have to install them all again.

Well, I had the same issue with Steam as well some tima go, but I solved the problem by cleanly reinstalling the software. That's how I did it:

Steam is a great service. But you just need to remember to use your brain. Oh! Seems you lost one of these games that i'm sure you've already finished, i'll write you a reference to it!

Great job breaking it hero.

You can always try to back up (restore) your computer it might help, if it saves your information at certain points.

That's what i do, if i fuck something up, hope it helps.

On a side note:
I recently uninstalled my Steam version of Amnesia, as I was using it to play custom stories and lastly to check White Night installation. While I was looking through the folders, I saw that all my WN installation files were still there although all of the Amnesia files were gone.
It's probably better to check everything in order, to make sure the way to get them back.
