Hi. I just recently got Penumbra, and I can't figure out something for the life of me, even after reading the walkthrough. I can't seem to get beyond the room with the hammer. I read about the shelf and all that, but I don't know which shelf, or what to do. I can't seem to grab it or anything. Can someone help me?

There are 2 bookcases on the wall. You can see some boards behind the one on the left. Put hands on bookcase and walk backwards. You will pull bookcase away from wall. Push tab. In your inventory place hammer on number 1. Push tab again. Push button 1 on keyboard. Then swing hammer at bookcase. A couple of times and it will break. Hope that helped.
