Well, im not 100% sure, why you also need to set up traps as well. Should the pyschopath be putting water in an certain area? Should he turn on or off power in a place? Put glass on the ground? Maybe booby trapping some doors? Is that what you mean?
Oh and another thing, maybe i should make this an total conversion since i should probably use the flashlight from White night/penumbra. But i donno.

Stuff like that, yeah. Though, i had also intended for the psycho's personality to be expressed through the labor. For example, when testing out an explosive device, merely watching the organic material shatter into pieces overwhelms the psycho with pleasure, triggering a comment (voice over).

Not necessarily the detective, as the original intent was for the emotions of the detective to be the player's emotion. But my suggested idea doesn't have to be followed to the "T". Shape it however you wish; i mentioned it merely as a starting point.
