Amnesia.exe caused an exception... - crowz9 - 03-03-2012

Hi everyone!
I'm having a problem with the game.
I've never had a problem until yesterday.
The last part I played was the one when you get kidnapped by two Grunts and then you wake up in a cell from which you have to escape.
I was tired by then so I saved the game and exit normally.
Then the next day I try to open the game by double clicking the icon in the desktop, but guess what?Nothing happens. I try opening as Administrator and it works.
I click on START GAME and BAM!!! Blackbox pops up saying:

"Amnesia.exe caused an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION in module MSVCR71.dll at 001B:7C350236, fclose()+0019 byte(s)"
And in the stack trace also appears an error with kernel32.dll.

You can check in attachments. There is the hpl.log file.
I find this very strange since the game has never crashed for me.
Since I've played most of the game, I don't think outdated drivers are a problem because the game would have crashed the first time I opened it.
Also tried fixing Windows Registry and reinstalling it.
I even tried changing graphics settings but still...
How can I solve this problem?

My specs:
AMD Athlon II x2 245 2.9GHz overclocked to 3.5GHz.
1gb RAM
ASUS EAH5770 cuCore
450w antec PSU
500gb WD Hard Drive

Win XP SP3

Please attach your HPL.log file correctly... It can be found at My Documents\Amnesia\Main folder.

I attached the hpl.log file found in redist.
The one in Documents/Main doesn't say a lot.
"No memory leaks detected. Memory left 0"

You must have made some changes to your software since the last time you run the game successfully. Did you uninstall all alter anything? Try reinstalling the game.

Didn't work.
Uninstalled the game, deleted the Amnesia folder in safe mode, ran TuneUp and fixed registry errors.
Still getting the same error with MSVCR71.dll
I downloaded it from dll files.com. Put one on system 32 folder and one on Amnesia redist folder.

Delete it from the game folder, it is not needed normally.

Okay
So I deleted it.
I still get the error but this time is different.

Compare both screenshots so you can see the difference.

Are you using anything custom or have you installed anything custom lately at all? Now that you removed the file what happens when you run as admin and when you are not? If it worked for some time then it means that you did something is some way to cause this. I cannot know what that might be though...

Let's try a clean install: Uninstall the game and then delete the program files folder which contained Amnesia. There might be leftovers there. Then to to Documents and rename the folder Amnesia to Amnesia_OLD. Install the game and try again.

Thaaaaaaaaaanks!!!
It works now.
This is what I did.
Reinstalled the game, renamed the folder Amnesia to Amnesia_OLD, when the game asked me for a serial number, I put it instead of searching in the internet for a crack, then copied my previous savegame and pasted it in the new Amnesia folder, and finally BAM! THE GAME WORKS!
Thanks for your help.
This is only a suggestion, perhaps you could add my problem to the troubleshooting guide or something, so that people can solve that problem.

Good, well the problem was at your .cfg files at Amnesia folder of Documents. Maybe there were corrupted.
