I totally agree with you. But you can't honestly believe everyone has the knowledge(I could quote a few posts but THAT would be rude) or is not lazy enough to check them out. People here expect(most people here, again I could quote a few posts), expect you to do everything for them.

I personally had zero knowledge of scripting before I started to make our Custom Story, it took a few weeks, and suprisingly, I actually learned something. I can even do timers now!

RE: A glimpse at the horizon - Adny - 04-30-2012

In another thread, I posted about HPL2 reaching its limitations, but I now realize how terribly I mis-worded it. No engine really has limitations as long as there are creative minds and new ideas. But, not only do you have to think of the idea, but you have to have the time, dedication, and knowledge of the engine (whether its scripting, modeling, level creation, etc) to make it work. What I should have said in that other thread is that HPL2 doesn't have limitations, but a lot of the people who create these mods/custom stories do (no offense). With that said, Timorem seems to be working pretty hard at this.

Of course at this point in production I can't say "ZOMG BEST MOD EVR!" like some people have already said, but you guys have definitely implemented some unique ideas that all mods should have (or at least try to have). I'm looking forward to the finished product. Good luck!

As long as you don't have the engine's source with you it's limited. Starts with performance and goes on and on. What you can say is that HPL2 hasn't been explored yet.

Nemesis567 remember that palistov have made tetris and/or snake with this engine so a lot is possible with the engine, if you know how to do it ofc ^^

Pushing it to lower levels is quite easier than pushing it to higher levels. What if you wanted to use volume rendering features? The engine wouldn't hold it for sure.

A notice about the actual project:

We will actually announce it soon, but currently have two things to finish. There will be a trailer and a demo (though not a usual demo, don't worry) and when one of these is finalized there'll be a lot more information available about it.

RE: A glimpse at the horizon - nemesis567 - 04-30-2012

What's your perception of time? (How soon?)

Don't spoil everything with a demo. I have high expectations for this mod.(team has the right elements)

RE: A glimpse at the horizon - Traggey - 04-30-2012

We have no perception of time at all, so don't sit around and wait.

Nothing will be spoiled with the demo.

The demo coming is merely a 2-3 minutes, little taste of the story background. No actual GAMEPLAY from the campaign itself... That's going to take awhile and I don't believe there will be a demo for that.
