You create one. The "custom_stories\" folder starts out as an empty folder that you make (in the "redist\" folder), and then you put the stories that you want to play in it. Then you open up Amnesia and click on "Custom Story" in the main menu, and the story/stories in the folder should show up.

Thanks so much Blush

Dodgy i didnt work... wheres the "redist\" folder

RE: custom story help - DRedshot - 04-11-2012

If you are using steam I believe it's just the "Amnesia - The dark descent/custom_stories" folder
(no redist folder).

Otherwise it's "Amnesia - The dark descent/redist/custom_stories"

But before that make sure you have followed all of the steps on this page, it tells you how to set up the config file so you can actually play it.

Edit: sorry, I misread your question, thought you were making a story not playing one Tongue
Double edit: Your not using steam lol, fail on my part. never mind, I'm tired...

To actually answer your question, look for the folder which contains things like 'entities' 'sounds' 'music' 'maps' et cetera. Along with these folders there should also be a custom_stories folder. If there isn't, try making one. But make sure it is spelt correct and in all lowercase.

RE: custom story help - icebox97 - 04-12-2012

AHHHHH! the only folder i have in my amnesia folder is "Main" and from there the only folder is my user

RE: custom story help - Kreekakon - 04-12-2012

You've gone to "My Documents". You have to go to the place you installed the game at. Default is C:/ Program Files/Amnesia - The dark descent/redist/custom_stories

EDIT: Oh! I didn't see that you were playing it on Steam. In that case follow trollox's advice below.

RE: custom story help - trollox - 04-12-2012

well should be your main drive probably C then just go -> Program(x86) /steam/steamapps/common/amnesia the dark decent / and find custom stories. Then simply just drag the extracted folder (which ever map it is , unless it's full convertion mod) and you should be able to located it inside the game in the custom story section.

Trollox.

Do you know the directory where gamestop installed your amnesia into? ( I do not know if gamestop provides any thrid party service like steam, if not you should simply follow the non-steam options posted above ) If not, try just starting the installer again to check which the default installation path is, check the path and then close the installer again.
