Amnesia: The Dark Descent - The Novel - JimmyEqualsMe - 02-07-2013

I was playing a custom story for Amnesia some days ago, and I come to thinking that I miss the original story of Amnesia: TDD, and that I feel the story is good for so much more than only this one game. So I started thinking of other ways to exploit the brilliant plotline of Amnesia.

What about a novel?

I was skeptical at first, but the more I thought about it, the more I liked the idea.

What do other people think of an idea like this? If it ever happens that I start writing a novel based on Amnesia: TDD, I will probably post it chapter by chapter as I write them.

Its kinda strange imagining to expand the game's story but you'll probably have the blessing of most hardcore fan's blessing! And you have my own as well. So good luck I suppose!

I think its kinda good. To help you;
"And then, Daniel wandered in the forest, with nothing to do."

He picked up a tinder box, turned around the corner and faced a monster. He ran and suddenly - he found a bag of milkyways!"

I do not actually plan to extend the storyline, only retell it. Of course there will be some tweaks along the way, but not major stuff.

I'd definitely read a book based on the TDD storyline, that'd be awesome.

Even if Daniel is mostly walking alone, not talking to anybody in the storyline until the end with agrippa maybe?

I don't know, maybe a movie with morge flashbacks would be better, has anyone seen the movie "Buried" ? It is a disturbing movie, 90 minutes long with one actor taking place inside of a grave - but still it was great to watch.

So it is possible to make movies with only one person in darkness through about 90 minutes, if you make it exciting.

But a Book? I don't know, at least not 300 pages about daniel coming around the next corner of the next corridor Big Grin

Let's see how it works out after a chapter or two. This may be a stupid idea, that's why I decided to see what people thought of it. I honestly don't have high hopes of me actually managing to write a whole book.
