I think it's really hard to do The Raven recitation and keep the tone all the while.

Welcome to the forum C: Mic quality is definitely something to look into, whether it be looking up audio software to clean your recordings or investing in a new one. As for your acting itself, I can tell you're a step above many for your reciting techniques already, so I don't hear any of that monotone Kartan's pegged. I just hear you being quiet.
For more samples, I'd recommend cycling through the extremes of emotions; try furious, try weeping, try excited, etc. After all, those are the most fun.
Are you familiar with voice acting or has your past experience just been Shakespearean/stagework?
