I'm a LOT disappointed bty TCR. I never thought that they would abandon their dedicated PC fanbase in such a fashion, not for a minute. I've said it before and I'll say it again - if we were still promised a PC version, even if it was 2 or 3 months after the PS4 release, I'd be pretty okay with that. But as things stand ........ well, I'm not happy.

I do hope that Dan reads this thread after his week's break. I'd also love to hear his replies to the apparently mounting criticism of this PS4 decision (not just here but on many forums that I've read).

It's unfortunate but I would give them some slack. This is what Dan said:

Quote:Truth be told, I went in expecting to come away marking off days on my calendar until a period of timed exclusivity was up, but no such luck. When I asked if everybody who matters – you know, PC gamers – would eventually go to the rapture, Pinchbeck offered a brief, unfortunate reply: “No, it’ll be a PS4 exclusive.”

RE: Everybody's Gone To Rapture Announced - Ossie - 08-22-2013

I'm prepared to give them a degree of slack - they are a young and fascinating game developer who seem to want to make smart games with great story-telling. This is what appeals to me ..... which is what makes it so very much harder that "...Rapture" is going to be PS4 only (at least for the foreseeable future).

I'm very pleased that they have a deal with a company that they admire and want to work with, I just wish that they could have done something to please everyone, ie create a PS4 version and a PC version for their highly supportive fanbase (and other PC gamers). Like many others I just feel really let down right now.

I won't go on as I'll just end up repeating what I've said in other messages. Smile

I love how they strategically dropped the bomb the day before going on vacation... Rolleyes

Indeed. Can't say that I blame them though - if I was in their shoes I'd have done exactly the same.

I said that on another forum and everyone was calling me a conspiracy theorist.

-They say that it doesn't mean there won't be a PC version (but ofcourse we know there won't be, ever)
-They finally announce the release date of AMFP
-Then they conveniantly go on vacation and won't respond to any questions for the rest of the week

Hmmm -_-

The Chinese Room appear to have lost a hell of a lot of support from their PC fanbase.

Have The Chinese Room made a huge error of judgement with this PS4 exclusive? We'll see.

RE: Everybody's Gone To Rapture Announced - Paddy™ - 08-23-2013

I don't think it matters if TCR loses their PC fans, because they clearly don't give much of a fuck about the PC platform anyway haha. What do they have to lose?

I have a question which I'm not capable of answering myself, because I simply haven't a clue how this works. How difficult is it, in terms of time, resources, money, to port a game to the PC? Dan seemed to be saying in that article that Sony were necessary to help them realise their potential because they weren't capable of it alone, which is fair enough, but once the game is actually made porting it doesn't involve the same kind of stresses, right? So why not do it at some point?

They pull the ladder up the minute Sony flashes its knickers at them.

RE: Everybody's Gone To Rapture Announced - pinkribbonscars - 08-23-2013

It wouldn't surprise me if they became a first party studio for Sony. Ohwell. They didn't even try a Kickstarter campaign, so they obviously don't care or even trust in their PC fanbase.
