System keeps rebooting on high settings - britinthehague - 09-10-2013

Hello

Thanks for the game.

Trouble is it keeps on rebooting the pc on high settings...
My system is
Geforce GT610
Intel core duo CPU E7300 2.66GHz
Memory 3.25GB, win7 ultimate
Res 1280 x 720
Driver version 320.49

This system can run dead space 3 on very high settings without issues.

If I have to run it on medium settings will it be safe then rather than rebooting?
Is there anything I can do to make it a clean exit rather than reboot?

If your system won't reboot in Medium, you can try it.

Thanks - Yes I will try but its a bit disappointing if I can run dead space 3 on very high why not this game?

Also I think its reasonable to expect the game to both handle and capture the error cleanly rather than reboot my system Smile

Anyway to raise a ticket for this issue?

Yes, I know Smile But I think this is not a problem with graphics, if you make it High, maybe there will be something that the system can't handle Smile

Sounds like it might overheat, possible that the computer could use a cleaning from dust? Amnesia games tend to make the computer run very hot, possibly because it uses OpenGL and not DirectX (like dead space). So make sure good air-flow, not overlocking and possibly run on medium settings, a 610 is a low end card.

Thanks. I installed the card last week so airdusted the pc then. Actually I think my PSU is only rated at 180W so that might be the problem? Its a small HTPC that only has an SSD and no CDR or HDD.
I will try the first amnesia and report back.

Yes Amnesia DD works fine on high - this looks like an issue specific to pigs.

Seriously I think I'm going to leave it until you issue a patch.

This game is not fit for purpose right now.

There doesn't even appear to be a good way to report bugs here - why not have a ticket system?

I reported a fatal exception earlier today (entire system reboots) and offered to provide logs. never mind.

I bought the game from gamefly and will try to get my money back.

If your PSU is only 180W then that's definitely it. What happens is that when you raise the graphics higher the graphics card consumes more power and thus the system shuts down due to lack of power.
