Mac Screen Tearing HELP! - Petch1984 - 09-10-2013

I am playing on (late 2012) iMac. I am experiencing screen tearing, please help. I far exceed the recommended specs and have v-synce turned on.

I think you can install the a control panel for the graphics card, by downloading installer from amd/nvidia. Then you have a control panel in the System Preferences and you can use that to force vsync on/off if it is not working using the game option for some reason.

Nothing I do has any effect, I've tried lowering and disabling settings and I've changed the resolution. This is pretty annoying, I hate screen tearing and can't play this game with it. There is no point - the screen tearing for me is scarier and more off-putting than any in game terror.

Thanks for the reply, I will try that but I don't think it will work because I've tried it in the past and you generally cannot access the control panel for iMacs. Any tips on how to do it? Thanks.

I'm sorry but forget that, it seems my memory was of something very old and not supported any longer. At least I could not find any new up-to-date catalyst control center or similar to use, but I do remember having had it at some point.

I tried to google a bit but could not find anything about forcing vsync or similar on a Mac. On my 2011 Mac with a ATI 4670 the vsync is working fine so I can't reproduce the error. At the moment I can't think of any solution/workaround.

Can I set a specific framerate in the games config files? Something like.. Maxframes=60

I'm on a 27' iMac, the screen is 2560x1440, if that helps.

There should already be a limitfps which is set to 60. But I think we have a fix, hopefully later today there will be an update out that improves the vsync.

Thanks, it's better to play this game late at night anyway haha.

Hey, is there any news on a vsync update yet? Or should I wait until tomorrow? Thanks.

No news yet, we have it updated for Windows, but not sure when the Mac update will be made. Hopefully today, but have not heard back yet!

[EDIT] Since the small update there is a new option available. Just turn off adaptive vsync in the options.
