Iipee Needs YOUR Help! - Again... - Yuhaney - 02-24-2014

I need your help, again. But now it's for the last time.
Watch the video and tell me which one you liked the most.

I like version 1 which only has the frame the best.

Reason being is that I think adding the blur might be a bit jarring, and not as pleasing to look at when compared to having the game footage cover the entire screen.

The only real reason you should have the blur is if the game is not originally designed for widescreen, and even so, some people do not like it. A general black screen would be your prime then there, unless you want to have some "interactive" buttons or something which will be there throughout the video.

But I would go with Option 1 in any other case Smile

Sorta off the original purpose: I like your accent :3 being Aussie, all I hear is American accents on TV. Nice to hear something different, and what was the second game that you played? Smile

Thanks!

I actually thought that the first version probably is ideal since those who would enjoy the blur, probably enjoy the full screen as well. Those who don't enjoy the blur won't most likely even enjoy the video...

I had in plans that I'll be using blur for the games that aren't in widescreen. In my opinion, in this case it gives some fresh air to older games.

Second game was Killing Floor.

I like the first one, it's non-intrucive and neutral. The blur makes things hard to watch and like Romulator said it's good for games that don't support widescreen, although I would use some complementary artwork for the boarder. Like Two Best Friends did with IHNMAIMS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58Ab2xw7hVE it works surprisingly well.

Hmm... That's a possibility too.

I have a color scheme and theme in mind, which can be seen on my Facebook and Twitter accounts (links on signature). Maybe I could use that on games which aren't widescreen, since the same gray pattern will also be covering the frame that's going behind me.

I'm with naked here. I think using something art-ish instead of that blur is much better. It looks better and more professional.

I know exactly what you mean!
I like MetalJesusRocks' videos and he uses that technique for his videos, as seen below.

I thought about that too, but for some reason I just got stuck with the blur because I thought it looked "fresh".
Most likely I was wrong... And that's exactly why I made this thread!

Thanks for the tips!

The frame isn't too bad but #1 is still the best. Tongue

Choosed the first option. I've always been bit critical on these kind of things.
In my own wierd opinion, which you don't have to listen, the webcam shouldn't cover up the gamescreen, at all. It can hide some valuable content, such as hud icons, game objects and even sometimes dialogue text. I am glad you did that border thing though, the facecam doesn't cover everything like in some "other" cases.
